Back in 2021, I teamed up with Antony Legrand, Thibault Mallet and the Akaru studio, to create "Prinft", a company specialized in transforming digital products into authenticated premium tangible objects. We've started our journey into the web3 world providing a solution to the Sorare card collectors in order to print their cards. We've ended up with a dedicated website with API connect, card display, custom message, and a beautiful card printed on metal. Then we've worked with few companies who've contacted us for printing services. We are now opening-up to provide an all-in-one premium printing solution for companies with : Shopify + Printing + Logistics.


Challenge

Create this kind of product from scratch is difficult. My team and I have faced multiple challenges: business, strategy, design etc.

  • Build a product without any investors or financial help

  • Adjust our product to the market need

  • Provide a viable solution which links a digital product to its tangible twin

  • Keep competitive advantage

  • Branding + Design from scratch + Shopify custom

  • Never give up and know how to pivot in the face of pitfalls


Solution

  • I decided to invest a lot of time and money personally. I have also partnered with a team of talented people who have many of the skills required for this type of project.

  • We have set up numerous 1/1 interviews with profiles corresponding to our target in order to assess their needs

  • We have chosen to go with the NFC technology (liability, pricing). We've inserted NFC chip into our products in order to create a link between the 2 objects.

  • As we were first on this kind of product, we have focused on the entrance technical barrier to maintain our quality/price ratio competitive advantage. We have also digged into Mixed Reality to add more value to our tangible products. We've ended up with a Mixed reality functional app prototype (image detection + display of additional content (text + image + video)).

  • I've designed countless mockups and iterations. We've imagined some innovative ways of onboarding through tangible card openings.

  • We have pivoted many times to adjust our offer (materials used, packaging, products offered, etc.)
